After I set up the connection and try to use it, I get an authentication problem, even though I'm using the correct password.
Any idea what the problem might be? Maybe it's asking for your root password?
I doubt a WiFi connection would be asking for the root password, especially when using WPA/WPA2 encryption. I don't think it's the WiFi connection asking you for a root password. Rather, I am suggesting that NetworkManager may want your root password to be able to set up the connection. I have had NetworkManager ask me for my root password to configure VPN connections. Unfortunately, the interface often isn't clear which password it is asking for :/
Yes, it does, but that's not the issue. The WiFi connection is up & announcing it's SSID. When I try to connect to it, using the WiFi password, as I would for any other access point, it doesn't authenticate.
The root password is only for creating and managing the connection. It is not used for WPA2 security. If that's what's required, then someone really screwed up in designing this.
I don't know an answer for this, though. Sorry. Maybe someone else does. -- Carmen Bianca Bakker <carmen@carmenbianca.eu> PGP: 2A09 F627 39F6 DEC8 CFFC A216 CD0A 90F1 C5CA 0C92
