I am running Suse 7.2 Pro. "Local Network" browsing is offered in the File Manager tree, off Network. When I click on "Local Network", I get the error message "could not connect to host localhost". Yet I have localhost configued, as seen below in the output from ifconfig: eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:60:67:72:0E:B8 inet addr:192.168.1.3 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: fe80::60:6772:eb8/10 Scope:Link inet6 addr: fe80::260:67ff:fe72:eb8/10 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:9854 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:10442 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:1 txqueuelen:100 RX bytes:9931718 (9.4 Mb) TX bytes:1068194 (1.0 Mb) Interrupt:5 Base address:0xbf00 lo Link encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:448 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:448 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:58401 (57.0 Kb) TX bytes:58401 (57.0 Kb) What else needs to be configued? I presume this is samba. Is there a setup utility for Samba in Suse 7.2? Is samba configured by default? Or this is a localhost configuration problem? -- burns

I have the same problem, but I got samba up and working properly. And I do not know how to solve the problem yet. Tazio
