[opensuse] Kmail migration no 2
With the update to 4.7 I was surprised to get a kmail migration. Migration was successful but since then I cannot use kmail anymore. The error message is: KMail encountered a fatal error and will terminate now. The error was: You do not have read/write permission to your inbox folder. This is a nogo ;). No idea where kmail got this info. Looking into the kmail data and inbox does not give an indication about what went amiss. PS. If I leave this Error message I can look into the kmail emails. Found that the migration although finished with the message that it had finished succesful, only transfered 9 from the 31 messages from the inbox. From the suse box 12 from the 496 messages and from my family folder 0 (yes zero) from 2545 messages. My problem may have been caused by the fact that I have the mail box in MAIL on my /home directory and I can use it from several opensuse versions. That is why nothing is realy lost but it shows that the migration is not fool proof and should have a warning to start saving ones mailboxes before using it. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org ----------------------------------------- -- Linux User 183145 using LXDE and KDE4 on a Pentium IV , powered by openSUSE 11.4 (i586) Kernel: 3.0.0-4-desktop LXDE WM & KDE Development Platform: 4.7.00 (4.7.0) 18:13pm up 2:13, 3 users, load average: 0.51, 1.10, 1.09 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Run "akonadiconsole" without the quotes, click "Agents tab", select "Local Folders" and/or your imap account name. On your right select Configure -> Configure Natively and fix the directory paths there. I ran akonadiconsole and after that lost all former folders. Only above email was somewhere kept under Local Account Went to Agents and found that KMailfolders had problems. This might indeed take some time, folders appearing and messages within them. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=268555 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=268040 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=267864 Sven -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Thanks Sven, Do read the opensuse-kde list but it is too technical for me. Abbreviations that I do not understand and discussions about details which are above my understanding. Reason why I ask on this list only. My understanding about the kmail2 problem is that there are a lot of participants who are not happy with kmail2 and its effects looking at the rough language used. Thanks for the bug reports. Due to the repair work done on kmail2 migration I think it is best to refrain from sending bugreports until it starts to work better. The fact that I cannot make new folders, only subfolders e.g under inbox is a temporary pain. Worth a bug. But for the moment I will follow the ongoing bugreporting about kmail and kmail2. Open for suggestions though about participating. -- Linux User 183145 using LXDE and KDE4 on a Pentium IV , powered by openSUSE 11.4 (i586) Kernel: 3.0.0-4-desktop LXDE WM & KDE Development Platform: 4.7.00 (4.7.0) 09:59am up 17:59, 3 users, load average: 0.14, 0.23, 0.23 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
