Hello, Has anyone been able to install and run TriTeals CDE on SuSE 5.3 ? They have taken over the distribution from RHat since the security issue and are now releasing the Linux version and a low cost upgrade for owners fo the old RHat dist. I have all of the required additional rpms ( cracklib-dicts, pam, etc) installed, and have followed the instructions in the SuSE support database "Installation of TriTeal CDE (RedHat)". I get the Dtlogin screen and when I login the screen goes black (black arrow mouse curser) then after a few seconds I'm returned to the Dtlogin screen. Triteal does have a new version out that fixes it along with an upgrade price for folks with the RH Triteal product. I received the same mailing from RedHat but I found out that TriTeal has gone ahead and fixed the security problem and the are offering an upgrade starting around $20.00 US until the end of Jan. of Feb. <A HREF="http://www.triteal.com</A">http://www.triteal.com</A> for anyone interested. My problem is even after following the instructions at the SuSE support database site pertaining to CDE I cant get it to run on SuSE 5.3. I have installed all of the required libs from the RH cd and I get the dtlogin screen but once I login on my user account (or any other) the screen goes black for a few seconds and poof I'm back at the login screen. Is it possible I am seeing a glibc problem? Any direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike On Wed, 6 Jan 1999, Carl Johnson wrote:

Hi, i run CDE on AIX and had a similar problem: after entering id and passwd - dark screen for a while - then back to the CDE login screen... try removing .dtprofile and .dt from your home directory. if that does not help -- create a new user and try to login with CDE. I had a similar problem - removed .dt* - logged in OK i hope it is that easy... -alexm On Wed, 6 Jan 1999, Michael Mayo wrote:
