I am using Skype with video, when I test the webcam in the configuration window all I see is a blue screen. I have the video set to auto start on conversation start, when I call someone, they can see me, but if they share there webcam with me, it shows up as being blue. If They call me, however we can both see each other. I think this may be connected to the fact that in order to view my own webcam with luvcview I must specify "disable SDL hardware accel" with the "-w" switch, or it displays as all blue also. Also, Video playback in VLC does not work with the "default" option, but it does if I use the "X11" output. I am on a Thinkpad X61 with Suse 11.0 64bit, and integrated Intel graphics. Not 100% sure it is the same problem I had, but looks very similar. There is a known issue with skype 2.0.0.72, if it is dynamically linked with qt. The workaround is to install statically linked version of skype. It works for me. -- Mark Goldstein -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I had different problems with Skype 2.0.0.72, like buttons being active but invisible. Most of them (but not all) were solved by using Qt v4.4.3 from http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Qt/openSUSE_11.0/. May be worth trying. This did not seem to help either Skype or luvcview... thanks for the idea though. -Jesse -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Mark, This made skype behave much better but did not fix the problem I posted about... One thing that is interesting, is that when someone else starts the call, I can see them but the little preview box of myself is blue, when I start the call, the other person is blue, but the preview box is works fine... makes me wonder if permanently disabling video preview would solve the problem, but I can't figure out how to do that on more than a session by session basis. I would then suggest searching skype linux video forum: http://forum.skype.com/index.php?s=fdb2abbdd0b422f9a15ac48841e7eda2&showforum=194 This is where I found description of my problem (that was solved by usage of statically linked version). E.g. these might be close to yours, though nobody answered these posts yet: http://forum.skype.com/index.php?showtopic=211951 http://forum.skype.com/index.php?showtopic=199421 Regards, -- Mark Goldstein -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Have you tried starting skype from command line? .. there might be some useful debugging output. Cheers, Sampsa -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Hi . A friend of mine has just installed opensuse 11.0 on his laptop then installed skype to find the same thing blue box no video from his camera . The fix he found was a different camera now works well , There seems to be a few clashes with certain camera drivers and skype . Pete . -- SuSE Linux 10.3-Alpha3.
