[opensuse] No Mic in VIA VT1708S
Hello Mates, i've got a new PC (ASRock N68-S Board) with a VIA VT1708S Chip. My Headset is plugged in into the pc's backside. And i also tried the FrontMic. Sadly i can just hear, but the mic isn't useable. I've launched alsa-info.sh and i've placed it there: http://www.alsa- project.org/db/?f=ee9a92b31b4cecfff9c044e8026342fe6e35630e Has anyone experience with this Chip and has maybe a solution? That would be great... -- Sincerely yours Sascha Manns open-slx GmbH openSUSE Community & Support Agent openSUSE Marketing Team Blog: http://saigkill.wordpress.com Web: http://www.open-slx.de (openSUSE Box Support German) Web: http://www.open-slx.com (openSUSE Box Support English)

Has anyone experience with this Chip and has maybe a solution? Hi Sascha,
I had similar problem but only with oS 11.1 and Kubuntu 10.4, with older kernel. My VIA VT1708S worked OK on oS 11.3 without any special tweaking (except "muting" Smart 5.1"). All systems are 32bit architecture. I'm using front connectors for headphone and MIC. Here is the reference to my alsa-info results: http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=066df913ff4fd17059ad637ba530340e07f5def4 In 11.1 the solution was updating to alsa > 1.0.22 and using alsaconf and alsamixer. What I noticed is that on my system alsa driver is 1.0.23 and on yours 1.0.22.1. I currently use the kernel 2.6.35, but I'm almost sure I've checked alsa version after installation and it also was 1.0.23.
