Hello, I have just moved from Fedora Core 4 to SUSE LINUX 10.0.42 (X86-64) OSS Beta2, because it supports better my current hardware. On Fedora I had a working apache setup which allowed me to run some php pages I had in my home directory: /home/marco/public_html -> http://localhost/~marco/ Now, with SuSE, if I load http://localhost/ I get a page saying "It Works!". But when I try to reach the page above I only get: ################################################################### Object not found! The requested URL was not found on this server. If you entered the URL manually please check your spelling and try again. If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster. Error 404 localhost Sun Feb 19 22:59:31 2006 Apache/2.2.0 (Linux/SUSE) #################################################################### For the record, the type or extension of the index page doesn't change the result: index.html or index.php all yeld the same result What can it be? I haven't changed anything in my public_html or home directory (all 755), and I have set up apache just as it was working on Fedora: UserDir enabled, UserDir public_html and so on (in mod_userdir.conf). I have also checked in Yast that the userdir module is enabled. What else should I do? Everything I can see is the same as it was in Fedora, and it was working there. I guess there is some subtle difference in configuration of Apache for SUSE versus the Fedora version, but honestly I can't see it. Any suggestion is greatly appreciated, TIA, Marco

Hi Marco, From a not-very-old thread on this list: There is a bug in yast2 that disables the mod_userdir configuration. (https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=128226) You need to add the configuration again: https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=53980&action=view UserDir public_html Include /etc/apache2/mod_userdir.conf (in /etc/apache2/default-server.conf) regards, Carl

OK, I'll study that material.
