[opensuse] KDE time tracker?
Is there any KDE based time tracker?, something like GnoTime (which couldn't find in the distro or any repository either). I would like to keep track of tasks as a freelancer, Project -> Task, time spent, etc... Hi, just after posting my question found kde4-ktimetracker in the distro. It wants to install kde4-kmail, kde4-kaddressbook and other kde4 dependencies, anybody knows how will this affect my current installation of Kontact (kde3)? I used to have one of these on Windows 3.11 way back when. IIRC, I used TimeKeeper. GnoTime - catchy name - seems to have a stopwatch feature. Is that what you want? I actually shied away from these and instead move to more traditional project management tools like MS Project or OpenProj http://www.perfectreign.com/stuff/2008/20080122_openproj.png You can add actuals to time spent. I do more overvew stuff here, but used to use MS Project and MicroMan from POC IT. -- kai www.filesite.org || www.perfectreign.com government is a process which utilizes 45.5% gut reaction, 45.5% laws and statutes and 1% logic -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Not sure, I think that would help.

Any reason in particular?, can you elaborate?
management tools like MS Project or OpenProj

It was already suggested, but looks more than I need, i'll probably test it after all..

When I first started, I was in tech support, billing by the 1/4 hour on the phone and 4 hour min. for onsite calls. We were small software company. However, the tasks of keeping 1/4 hour increments proved too difficult. I eventually simply moved into an expectation that I'd bill approximately 60% of my day towards clients and 40% would be eaten as overhead - meetings, travel, bathroom, lunch, going to the printer... When I got into multi-year projects lasting several thousands of hours, it became more of a thing to project billing for software development then eventually try to recoup some of the actuals for comparison to the next project. Now, I'm a PHB, so my time is overhead anyway. :P -- kai www.filesite.org || www.perfectreign.com government is a process which utilizes 45.5% gut reaction, 45.5% laws and statutes and 1% logic -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I dont know whether this will be useful but I use Kontact 1.2.4 Settings -> Configure Kontact Push the "Select Components" button. In there you will find "Timer". Select it and it will appear in the Navigator toolbar. Create tasks, sub tasks etc. Start/Stop clock on subtasks and parent tasks totals are updated etc. Will allow you to do a total time spent on a project. Export data (times) to csv to import into spreadsheet. -- Kind Regards, Ritchie ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ritchie Fraser Web: http://www.rpfraser.uklinux.net Registered Linux User #255860

Hi, it's not available, probably that's what is provided by the mentioned KDE4 package (kde4-ktimetracker). Regards, Ciro -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
