[opensuse] Video 4x vs 8x question?
HI all, My motherboard can use a AGP 4x video card. I'm looking at an 8x video card. Will this 8x card work, just slower or not at all? It should work. Just make sure of the setting with sax2 when you set it up and limit it to 4x if needed. -- Joe Morris Registered Linux user 231871 running openSUSE 10.3 x86_64 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

------------ Also, make sure the box says 4x/8x or you will run into problems. There are different voltages to contend with and if memory serves me, some changes in the card slot. If it's only for 8x, then I would think twice about getting it. Lee -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Now you've got me worried! I put a bid on it on Ebay. The card is this: MSI MX4000-T64 NVIDIA GeForce4 MX4000,64 MB 32BIT What do you all think? Good adapter. I have that one in some MSI motherboard, but it is possible to tell in BIOS what speed should be used. I used that on an asus 4x agp motherboard with no problems, just point out though that it doesn't have pixel shaders - so it's limited for games and some effects in compiz and such. The best answer might depend on an URL to your motherboard specifications. Not all AGP slots are created equal. -- " Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people.
