This morning zen gifted me this new kernel. However, I have a new problem that I believe is related but can't be positive because other items came down the pipe as well. I am curious if anyone has seen this. I have two users on this machine. Namely me and my wife. We use the Start Applications -> Switch User -> Start New Session for the second person. Therefor, I am on F7 and my wife typically is on F8 unless she beats me to the system, (unlikely) after a reboot. When my wife comes over to my session on F7 and presses F8 to be in her environment everything works perfectly. However, after she is done and I try to switch back to F7 the switch never quite makes it and the keyboard completely goes away along with the mouse. Num Lck and Caps Lock won't work, lights are out. However, I can go to another computer and ssh -X into the machine and everything works just fine. To regain control I need to either reboot or init 3; init 5. This just started happening today after the reboot. Comments welcome. Cheers, Bob

Sounds like X gets creamed in the process of switching. Check logmessages or even start the X servers from a remote machine to capture any possible segfaults (which may or may not always show in the logfiles). Jan Engelhardt --

Jan: If you are going to reply direct (as well as to the list), at least reply direct to the person having the problem, which is not me. -- _____________________________________ John Andersen

Thanks for your comments. I think many items came across during the update. Amazing thing is after a day or so the problem wen't away and it has been behaving itself since. I am always suspicious of stuff that goes away but I won't argue with a properly working system now. Sorry to bug you guys. Bob
