Hy all, I am printing through cups to a postscript printer connected via ethernet. If I try to print for example a simple textfile, the job doesn't print. I have setup another System with OpenSuSE 10 and there the exact same setup does work as expected. I have duplicated the whole /etc/cups from System A to B. I have tried the following:
ps auxwww lp 5086 0.0 0.2 7712 4028 ? Ss 17:54 0:00 /usr/sbin/cupsd root 5124 99.5 0.3 7020 5136 ? R 17:54 17:02 /usr/bin/perl /usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip 262 root printtest 1 lp 5125 0.0 0.0 3004 832 ? S 17:54 0:00 socket://192.168.100.13:9100 262 root printtest 1 root 5127 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? Z 17:54 0:00 [foomatic-rip] <defunct>
lpq Optras is ready and printing Rank Owner Job File(s) Total Size active root 262 printtest 1024 bytes
less /tmp/foomatic-rip.log ..... Insecure dependency in system while running setuid at /usr/lib/cups/filter/foom atic-rip line 3447 ....
Any thoughts I can try?

OK, now I have more info and think it is a bug/dependency in foomatic-rip. I have setuid /usr/bin/suidperl because of some cgi-scripts which should be running as special users. It seems that this interferes with the foomatic-filters?! I don't understand exactly why, because foomatic-rip doesn't need any special uid nor has it the setuid bit set. Does someone has the same problem and solved it somehow? Micha
