Re: [SuSE Linux] modem trouble
I check that already...i deleted the lock file and tried again. I also tried the other serial ports and kppp freezes when i try to querry the modem. When I do "setserial /dev/ttyS2" it reports back that it doesn't know what UART is being used - i'm taking this to mean that the modem is not being seen.
You probably have a stale modem lock in /var/lock --- check it out. Another possibility is the owner and permissions on ttyS2:
crw-rw---- 1 root uucp 4, 66 Sep 7 02:05 /mnt/hda7/dev/ttyS2
You may have to add yourself to the uucp group.

If the system reports that it dosn't know which UART is being used, maybe you have your com2 in bios setup still enabled, and it's conflicting with the modem? - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
