I have been having difficulty printing documents correctly in OpenOffice (ver. rc3 through 5, and 1.1) using certain fonts. The printer would spit out two clean sheets, then print the document. I then added some new fonts with the font installer in Yast. I added both the .pfb and .ttf files for the fonts. In looking at OOo's font listing, certain fonts previewed correctly, others did not. I disabled the .pfb fonts and left the others alone. It looked fine in the previewer after that, but I still had the same printing problem as before. I tried using both cups and lpd, without a difference. I just went to print a web page in mozilla, and it printed using an obscure font I had installed. I disabled the .ttf fonts and tried mozilla again. This time it printed fine. I looked at the font preview in OOo, and it was all screwed up again. I then went and disabled the .pfb fonts, and enabled the .ttf fonts again. Mozilla prints fine now. Now in OOo, I am able to print only using one font at a time. If I use multiple fonts in a document, it spits out two clean sheets, then prints the document. Even though the enabled fonts are exactly the same as they were, .pfb disabled and .ttf enabled, I'm now getting different results. Mozilla is printing fine, and OOo is printing better, even though I am still only able to use one font in a document. Any thoughts??? Have a look under spadmin --> Properties --> Font Replacement and make sure that "Enable Font Replacement" is disabled. For some stupid reason OOo ships with this enabled and really mucks up your fonts in printing. I suggest you do this as root so that it is done universally.. -- Regards, Graham Smith ---------------------------------------------------------
