Problem with KMail or Mail Transport Agent?

It seems I have been getting only a few of the SUSE list messages here in Kmail: maybe 10 a day. I configured the Mail Transport Agent to open firewall port in all instances. Not sure if this was the problem, but mail seems to be coming in now. Or maybe it was a Kmail setting. Anybody got a clue? There appears to have been another problem with the list server this past weekend. You were not the only one affected. -- Ken Schneider UNIX since 1989 SuSE since 1998 * Only reply to the list please*

Hi, There were problems on Sunday afternoon with the list. You can check SuSE's Mailing List archive and compare the messages there with the ones you receive. That's the only way to know for sure that you are receiving the list messages. HTH, Jorge

You only need to open the firewall if you're running your own mail server. You don't need to do that just to run kmail. Besides, if it were a firewall problem, you likely wouldn't be getting any mail at all, since a firewall usually doesn't block sporadically. It's usually all-or-nothing
