http://www-files.ximian.com/redcarpet2/suse-82-i586/ Yet trying the online update it refused to find any new versions for suse 8.2?? Is it only that their online update no longer supports 8.2? Are these all the files needed to update Evolution? I ask because I also have a PII and as yet no one has answered my questions as to running 9.1 on it. Which online update are you talking about? suse's? That has never supported new versions of software in general, and certainly not from third parties If you mean that you have red carpet installed, and don't see any updates in there for a new version of red carpet, then the question is: are you subscribed to the redcarpet2 channel? red carpet isn't needed to install/update evolution, it just makes it much easier to do so
I ask because I also have a PII and as yet no one has answered my questions as to running 9.1 on it.
I just installed 9.1 on a PII, 300MHz, 64MB RAM. Worked like a charm, KDE and all. A little on the slow side compared to more modern hardware naturally, but fully usable.
Actually I was trying to use the Xiaman online update proceedure the error "Unable to find updates for your OS" came up after several minutes. thanks for the good news on 9.1 all I need do is wait for it I think Ill put it on the PIII and try network install to the PII. I did the Red Carpet Update on my 8.2, initially to get the latest version of Evolution, I wanted the spell checking to finally work. After a few tries including choosing the same mirror instead through the choose another mirror option (why? because for some reason it wouldn't work right!) I finally updated Evolution, but _BROKE_ Galeon. So I did the install of Ximian DeskTop, and broke OpenOffice. Problem seems that the updater removes the existing packages, but doesn't install the new ones. So BEWARE, there be Dragons!! Mike -- downloading the OpenOffice 9.1 source RPM's so I can have more fun, until my wife takes my web browser away. :)

I never saw the question, but I've 9.1 running on a PII 233, and it was very nice. -- James Ogley, UNIX Systems Administrator, Pinnacle Insurance Plc james.ogley@pinnacle.co.uk +44 (0) 20 8731 3619 www.pinnacle.co.uk Personal: james@rubberturnip.org.uk www.rubberturnip.org.uk Updated GNOME packages for SUSE LINUX: www.usr-local-bin.org
thanks. I think ill load it on the PIII and learn how to do a network load. As I remember all you need is a NIC in each machine and a crossover cable. CWSIV On Sun, 2004-05-16 at 23:17, James Ogley wrote:
