works with Linux. So the question is how do USB scanners work? I've seen less then glowing talk about parallel port scanners so I'll avoid that. I haven't seen a SCSI scanner at a reasonable price. If USB scanners will work how about the AFGA 1212u. Will I need a 2.4 kernel? 2.3.xx for now?
I can't speak about the AGFA scanner in particular, but IIRC there *is* limited USB support in the latest kernels (I think it might have been backported from the 2.3.x kernels by someone at SuSE). I'm sure at least some USB scanners are supported, but I couldn't tell you which particular ones...
Hope that helps, Chris
I compiled the latest developer kernel 2.3.49 and I enabled USB support and also checked the scanners section and the only scanners that I noticed that we're suported were a handful of HP so if you want to know which ones check the documentation for scanners they list the models.
