If you then want to get rid of 1.4 then you just delete the directory it's in and rename the previous directory back to mozilla and your no worse for wear. Thanks Mangus, I downloaded the .tar.gz and installed that way as I was having hell with the install.tar.gz, real slow dialup. I really like rc better than 1.4a and have not had any problems with it blocking pop-ups. Now if I could just get the Java plugin going and get it to open pdf,s I would be totaly happy with it. PDF's: Make a links in your mozilla plugin directory to /usr/X11R6/lib/Acrobat4/Browsers/intellinux/nppdf.so assuming you have acroread-4.05-52 installed. To make Java work you need to download the SDK 1.4.2 Beta version http://www.mozilla.org/releases/mozilla1.4rc2/#new-issues and link the the ns610/libjavaplugin_oji.so plugin. I do belive Sun 1.4.2Beta is the correct one, but for SuSE8.0 with a binary build from Mozilla it just won't work. I tried BlackDown(both versions) and Sun SDK 1.4.1, 1.4.2Beta and got none to work. I think is it compiler inconsistence problems, GCC 295.3 vs 3.2. Heck with it for now... :(

Thanks, but those binaries does not work on SuSE 8.0.
And my system is fully patched. The System thses binaries were build on was probably SuSE 8.2 or something with a newer glibc than 8.0's glibc-2.2.5-177...

As I've said before. The tar.gz of rc2 works just fine. Just because it's an installer shouldn't discourage you from installing it. It's a damn good release. You can get the tar.gz file from Mozilla.org and it should work with the Java release on 8.0 just fine. I'd just rename the /opt/mozilla directory to /opt/mozilla.old then install the rc2 binaries. It's a damn nice release. BTW..a side note. There are both GTK1 and GTK2 builds. I'm using the GTK2 build and it works just fine.
