Hello list: I am using SUSE 9.1 on a Dell Poweredge server and seem to be experiencing some problems after applying the latest kernel update. The rpm is installed properly but I get errors when lilo is being executed. You will notice if you scroll down that when lilo is run for some reason the system is looking for /lib/modules/2.6.5-7.75-smp/modules.dep when it should be looking for /lib/modules/2.6.5-7.95-smp/modules.dep instead. Can I do something manually to ensure that this computer will boot up properly with the new kernel? Thank you all.............. # uname -a Linux groupware 2.6.5-7.75-smp #1 SMP Mon Jun 14 10:44:37 UTC 2004 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux # rpm -Uhv --nodeps --force kernel-smp-2.6.5-7.95.i586.rpm Preparing... ########################################### [100%] 1:kernel-smp ########################################### [100%] Setting up /lib/modules/2.6.5-7.95-smp Root device: /dev/sda3 (mounted on / as xfs) Module list: aic7xxx aic7xxx aic7xxx xfs Kernel image: /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.5-7.95-smp Initrd image: /boot/initrd-2.6.5-7.95-smp Shared libs: lib/ld-2.3.3.so lib/libc.so.6 lib/libselinux.so.1 Modules: kernel/drivers/scsi/scsi_mod.ko kernel/drivers/scsi/sd_mod.ko kernel/drivers/scsi/aic7xxx/aic7xxx.ko kernel/fs/xfs/xfs.ko Run lilo now to update the boot loader configuration. At first glance, below I see in /var/log/messages refers to
/lib/modules/2.6.5-7.75-smp/modules.dep not
/lib/modules/2.6.5-7.95-smp/modules.dep
I think this might be a red herring.
