[opensuse] printing problem with brother laser
Hello, I have problems to print on a laser printer brother 7055w The driver is the openSUSE one. the problem is to print in landscape mode. For example a landscape document in libreoffice is printed in portrait mode, with the right size, so only partly printed. same for pdf documents. I tried acroread, ocular, same thing, BUT kpdf prints absolutely OK!! so I guess the problem is not in the driver? of course, I know of the pronter options, but none is acjnowledged, the print is the sama, whta ever setup is done for the printer any idea? I can use kpdf for pdf's, but from libreoffice its boring to print only from pdf :-( thanks jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I have a similar problem with almost exactly the same parameters. When I print a landscape document, particularly one of my mindmaps, that has been generated in landscape mode as a PDF or a image converted to a PDF using acroread or ocular it prints with an offset of about 2" so not all of the image appears on the paper. Yes I've tried playing with setting like 'centre image' and so on. But if I use FoxiIt or kpdf it "centres" properly. As jdd says, its clearly not the driver. This printer is also a Brother, HL-5170DN. -- Courage is resistance of fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I use Brother DCP7065DN and it works fine with PDF and Okular. I only have troubles with landscape printing in LibreOffice Calc. Writer and Impress are fine. I used driver from Brother's web. I didn't need it so much to spend more time with it... Good luck, Vojtěch -- Vojtěch Zeisek Komunita openSUSE GNU/Linuxu Community of the openSUSE GNU/Linux http://www.opensuse.org/ http://trapa.cz/

There is no landscape printing. I have learned: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=891179 I think, many drivers are broken, and previously linux printing tried to fix it automagically. The clean way would be to fix broken drivers, but it is frustrating. -- Florian Gleixner SV des Bibliotheksverbund Bayern, Verbundzentrale im Leibniz-Rechenzentrum Boltzmannstr. 1 85748 Garching Tel.: 089-35831-8824 Fax.: 089-35831-8624 e-mail: gleixner@bib-bvb.de e-mail: gleixner@lrz.de

just nitpicking. There is lanscape document, but of course no printer rotate it's paper :-)
but this sent me to https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Landscape_Printing and there, lp -d queue_name -o fit-to-page file.pdf did the job of printing the pdf file correctly. even better, lpadmin -p queue_name -o fit-to-page-default allowed any (at least ocular) pdf printer to do the same. BUT... libreoffice prints correctly, but only the first page :-( I see in the bug it's possiblle to edit the ppd, but what part of it (I have it :-) thanks jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
