Hi, Based on the .spec file coming with SUSE 9.3, I prepared an rpm of the newest version of the chkrootkit [ http://www.chkrootkit.org/ ] security software for SUSE 9.1. Both the binary and the source rpm packages are available: http://homepage.univie.ac.at/balazs.melikant/chkrootkit-0.45-1.peli91.i686.r... http://homepage.univie.ac.at/balazs.melikant/chkrootkit-0.45-1.peli91.src.rp... This release is not only a newer version, but contains various fixes in comparison to SUSE 9.3. In addition please note, that there is also a weekly cron-script included, which allows you to check your computer automatically and mails you the results. Best regards, Pelibali Ps. I would like to give credit to Patrick Shanahan, whose 'rkhunter' package gave me the idea to publish the above stuff :)

Thanks for the work. Now, if you find a way to put it in a apt repository :) Cheers and have a nice weekend Sunny

Thanks, but my efforts are very minor. Accolates should go to the
rkhunter author,
Michael Boelen

Thanks for the 'correction', but there was no mistake at my side;) Based on the idea of rpm-packagin' a nice software appeared in a new version, I went for 'chkrootkit'. If you check the .spec file, you will immediately recognize, that how I prepared the cron script is almost identical to the way you managed in the 'rkhunter' rpm. :) This should also explain the credit given to you; the real-author of 'rkhunter' was mentioned already many times on the list together with the official homepage of that tool... By the way I redesigned a little the rkhunter package provided by you, even that probably I shouldn't be proud on my preliminary and extremely undesigned page: http://homepage.univie.ac.at/balazs.melikant/ Best regards, Pelibali (~Balazs MELIKANT)
