YEAH! got my sblive plat. workin but now a few days later it acts funny. I currently use the front drive tray 2 hook up to my cambridge soundworks 5.1 speakers (very nice i must say) since the front/rear cable is to short. The problem is that i don't get sound out of the speakers any more. It had worked the first couple days but after a few reboots it stopped working. Now, I can always get sound out of the sblive plugs on the card in back (using headphones currently). I also can't hook up headphones to the trays headphone jack (next to the SPDIF out). It does work in windows so I assume there isn't a cabling problem. any clues? -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

The OSS driver doesn't support S/PDIF output and the current ALSA emu10k
doesn't either :( The only cards where currently S/PDIF output is supported
are those based on the Trident 4D Wave chip.
Someone also posted on alsa-devel, that he succeeded in getting AC-3 coded
streams through ALSA, i.e. listening to the soundtrack of a DVD through
speakers attached to the S/PDIF output of his Hoontech 4D Wave NX ;-)
For your setup to work, I guess you'll have to wait a bit for it getting
supported in ALSA. Ask on the ML at alsa-users@alsa-project.org fur further
details.

Maybe it was a fluke then, but the first time I was able to get sound out of the SPDIF. I should have noted in the first message that i'm using the emu10k1 and not ALSA. Another problem i've found is that about every 30min or 1hour, the sound levels revert to their default. Using KModBox, this is very annoying since it reverts to about 90% on my headphones. I just checked and noticed i was in the wrong plug (i think its the powered one, the one next to the game port). Still, i don't think that should matter. Don't really know but thanx for the info. later -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
