GTK 1.x and 2.x apps under KDE
Hi. I installed a Plastik theme in SuSE 9.0, applied it in KDE Control Center, created and edited .gtkrc and .gtkrc-2.0 files in my home directory. But still gtk apps use Geramik style. Where can be the problem? Alex
Sorry, forgot, I installed also Plastig theme, which use QtPixmap engine. In .gtkrc include "/opt/gnome/share/themes/Plastig/gtk/gtkrc" in .gtkrc-2.0 include "/opt/gnome/share/themes/Plastig/gtk-2.0/gtkrc" The paths in /opt/gnome/share/themes/Plastig/gtk-2.0/gtkrc and /opt/gnome/ share/themes/Plastig/gtk/gtkrc are set up correctly.

Use gnome-theme-manager to select the appropriate theme (click Details, then select it under Controls -- James Ogley, Webmaster, Rubber Turnip james@rubberturnip.org.uk http://www.rubberturnip.org.uk Jabber: riggwelter@myjabber.net Using Free Software since 1994, running GNU/Linux (SuSE 9.0). and make sure that gnome-settings-daemon is running while you run KDE. Thanks a lot for your answers, but I found a better solution IMHO. I studied / opt/kde3/bin/startkde and found out, the way which kde in SuSE applies gnome themes. 1) If there is no ~/.no-qtrc-to-gtkrc-mapping file, then it uses the theme described in ~/.qt/qtrc, if this file exists, setting are taken from standard .gtkrc and .gtkrc-2.0 files 2) If there is no gnome theme in /opt/gnome/share/themes with the name described in ~/.qt/qtrc, the default Geramik is used. So, the best way to make consistent-looking desktop for KDE users is to put gnome themes in /opt/gnome/share/themes and rename them to the correspondent KDE theme (i.e. Plastig to Platik etc.) Alex

Unless the themes are from an RPM package, in which case DO NOT do this, as it will cause inconsistency between what is actually installed, and what the RPM database thinks is installed. Probably more sensible to symlink rather than rename. -- James Ogley, Webmaster, Rubber Turnip james@rubberturnip.org.uk http://www.rubberturnip.org.uk Jabber: riggwelter@myjabber.net Using Free Software since 1994, running GNU/Linux (SuSE 9.0). Sure I was talking about new themes from sources, because there is nothing wrong with suse's theme rpm packages.
