Meanwhile there is GRUB, from
http://www.gnu.org/software/grub/grub.en.html
(btw, Mandrake 7.x has it as a default loader ;-)

I want to use Suse 7.0. I would like to know if the lilo version that come with it support linux installation entirely after the 1024 cilinder (without /boot partition....) on a large scsi disk. No, it is not. We wanted to give it some more testing before we let it out in the wild, expect it to appear in the next version.

I tried GRUB and LM7.1, but I don't recommend GRUB. If I am not wrong, GRUB is still alpha (or beta by now), and it crash my 20gb harddisk twice (FAT corrupted). All the data are gone. I simply think that it is not worth to take the risk although it is quite stable (hang on my dual boot notebook sometime) and no issue on the 1024 limit. You decide. :) Dennis @Singapore
