Not sure about the Personal version, but 7.3 Professional has 4 books, smallest
of which is close to 200 pages. They are titled: Configure, Application,
Network, and Reference. The books have been very helpful, I always prefer
something on printed paper instead of man pages. The books still only cover
about 1/10 of what I would like to know though so I guess man -k it is.

I might have it right this time, apologies to those I have been sending to. First of all I have only recently started to use Linux so I may well be asking some stupid questions. I have 2 computers, one has Win 98se and the other is Win 98se with a Linux partition. They are connected via Ethernet cards on a direct x-over cable. Both can communicate with each other via the network neighbourhood applications and access each others files. So no problem there. I have Suse 7.2 I am aiming to connect the Win box via the Linux box to the internet. I don't really want to get into editing config files (sorry to the purists), but to have some x-interface program to do it. I have found a program called knetfilter, but this needs netfiltering and masquerading installed. So far I have done:- In terminal console changed to /usr/src/linux and run make xconfig. This brings up the options to install and have selected the options to do the above. The options can only be installed not modulised. Coming out of it and accepting the changes and running bzlilo, which if I understand it correctly does everything else necessary. On rebooting the computer hangs after Uncompressing Linux....Ok, booting the kernel. I have also tried it the other way. cd /usr/src/linux make menuconfig make dep ; make clean ; make bzImage make modules make modules_install copied bzImage to /boot modified lilo.conf to have an alternative kernel to load lilo reboot Still the same result, and I have tried it several times. What am I doing wrong. I would appreciate some help please Regards, David dg@stanwater.fsnet.co.uk on 09/11/2001 Regards, David dg@stanwater.fsnet.co.uk on 09/11/2001 Regards, David dg@stanwater.fsnet.co.uk on 09/11/2001
