I am using Front page 2002 and wonder if anyone knows how to block a viewer from viewing your source code?
How can I sell a book without letting anyone see the words? hm... -- Brian K. I suppose one way would be to write it in php as php as not viewed in "view source" -- Michael S. Dunsavage -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Can you download the *php*-source-code somehow? I just tried on my server and all I get is the parsed html produced by apache from the php script but not the php source itself (I am happy about that...). It's just that the sentence above made me fear you could really download plain php-source. Can you? Wget will pull the complete site down no problem html php xxx yyy zzz the only thing you cant get with wget is hidden files or files that follow passworded links but even those are not really safe it does not take too much work to follow ip links to sites that are supposed to be to all internts and purposes hidden/protected most of the tools are loaded into most distros Pete . -- SuSE Linux 10.3-Alpha3. And PHP source code.
I am confused. The server parses the PHP code and outputs the result of the script (generally HTML code) Without having access to the server how is it possible to download the PHP source code (assuming the file is named .php and the server is properly configured to parse the scripts) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Unless you able to fool the server to send you the source code, it is not possible. My posting should be read along with Peters like this: "... the only thing you cant get with wget is hidden files and PHP source code." Of course, if a server is configured to send the source code, it's an entirely different matter. /Per Jessen, Zürich -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I have to dissagree there i have downloaded loads of of PHP using wget one site i have just taken over looking after to get started i pulled it down with wget the only things missing were the hidden files and the stats files which i am not in the least bothered about Pete . -- SuSE Linux 10.3-Alpha3. Of course it is perfectly feasible to download PHP source code using wget or any other capable client, but _only_ provided that the server is configured to serve PHP source code. And that's wasn't the situation as described by the OP. /Per Jessen, Zürich -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Pete .
Then that is simply a poorly configured site. You can also download the source to a cgi script if you misconfigure your httpd to allow it, or place the script in some other directory that isn't treated specially like /cgi-bin There are several mechanisms by which a server may recognise a given file and treat it specially, or fail to. But it's not useful or interesting to base any arguments or instructions the assumption of a broken server. -- Brian K. Yes, you can *evilgrin* , but you shouldnt ;) With some knowledge you can manage to get PHP to crash, then, in some situations, the webserver will download the unparsed PHP source code :-D You dont really want that though, there is plenty of free PHP code to study out there.. -- "A computer is like an Old Testament god, with a lot of rules and no mercy.
