Occasionally, my mouse won't work after I boot up and I must reboot using my keyboard. It is an optical whell mouse by Logitech. Any way I can redo something in my setup to avoid this irritating problem? Thanks dj tuchler --

I have the same problem. Every once in a while when I reboot, the mouse doesn't work. I have to turn off the machine, unplug it and restart it before the mouse is seen. Even then 30% of the time it still doesn't work. This is with a USB Kensington optical mouse, SuSE 8.2 on ASUS A7V8X motherboard. It is annoying but so is filling out tax forms. C'est la vie.

I had a problem like this with a logitech wireless USB mouse. However, unplugging and re-plugging the USB connector would help. Later I switched the mouse to the ps/2 port and the problem disappeared entirely. Klaus __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Free Pop-Up Blocker - Get it now http://companion.yahoo.com/

... i have to agree. my logitech is usb, but i use the usb-to-ps/2 converter and have it in a well-known port and have ZERO issues. personally, i dont see what all the fuss is about - "gotta have usb this-n-that". the keybd goes into the dedicated keybd port, mouse into the dedicated ps/2 port, printer into the parallel port; now, my scanner *IS* on usb (epson1200u) and my sony camera does occassionally get plugged into usb, but those arent my "daily devices" :) (granted -those devices work every time) . -- /// Michael J. I used to see this in 8.1, but since 8.2 no problems. It always followed the exceeded count file system check. Restarting X was all that was needed to fix it. Most odd. David
