I reported earlier that I was unable to use K3B to burn an audio CD using MP3 files as the source. Someone told me that if I upgrade to the latest version, that problem would be solved. I just upgraded K3B to 0.10.2cvs and I still get the same error. When dragging an MP3 file into the project area of a Create Audio CD project, I get "Unable to handle the following files due to an unsupported format:" I'm wondering if I misunderstand how to create audio CDs from MP3 files, if 'someone' misunderstood what I was trying to do, or if I've installed the wrong version of K3B. Any suggestions would be appreciated. (I also have three "problems" reported to me when I first execute K3B but I'll throw those out in separate threads.) Don Henson

There's somethiing odd happening - this works for me with no problems using k3b 0.9, so 0.10 should work!

They could be part of your trouble - I assume that they're to do with permissions? You need to run "k3bsetup", which I think is now within k3b itself. This will set up everything for you (or, at least, it should :-) As a last attempt, try moving the k3b config files somewhere else to force it to recreate them. The ones I know about are ~/.kde/share/config/k3brc, ~/.kde/share/config/k3b.eventsrc, ~/.kde/share/config/k3bsetuprc and ~/.kde/share/apps/k3b/ HTH John -- John Pettigrew Headstrong Games john@headstrong-games.co.uk Fun : Strategy : Price http://www.headstrong-games.co.uk/ Board games that won't break the bank Knossos: escape the ever-changing labyrinth before the Minotaur catches you!

The closest I could come to K3bSetup from the K3B menu was "Configure K3B" but I couldn't find anything that looked like I could change permissions. (I, too, will reserve moving files as a last resort.) Don Henson

Don, I dont know if you have been given the answer on k3bsetup yet so here it is. If you are using the latest k3b, the setup is moved to the KDE Control Center. Fire up control center and look under System Administration. And there it is! It's listed ans K3bSetup 2 Good luck. richard

I found it from another response but thanks anyway. I still had a problem when I found it, though. After going to Administrator Mode, it took me awhile to figure out that I had to click the "Default" button in order to make the "Apply" button active. I'm not sure what that's about. Don Henson

At the moment, I'm focusing my attention on trying to figure out how to change permissions. But I will keep your source handy just in case. Thanks for the info. Don Henson

I tried that as well, but nothing until I downloaded the one in that directory Sean

I finally found the way to set permissions so that part of the problem is resolved. However, this did not fix the problems I was having with trying to make an audio CD using MP3 files as the source. I almost hate to tell you what the solution to that one was but, just in case someone else is as stupid as I am... When I was dragging what I thought was an MP3 file onto the project window, I was actually trying to drag a folder onto the project window. When I used an actual MP3 file, everything worked as it is supposed to. Oh well, ce la vie! Don Henson

Do you have the correct deps installed? k3b uses (I think) libmad and mpg123 or mpg321 - you need to have those installed. Same for ogg files - ogg123 Hans

Naw. It was a dumber error than that. I was trying to drag folders onto the project window. :-( Don Henson
