[opensuse] Help! What blew my kde menu away in kde3?
Listmates, I'm scratching my head. On my 11.0 kde3.5 laptop, suddenly all my tweaks to my kde menu are gone and the default menu entries are back? For example, I always add kwrite to the "Utilities/Editors" menu and today I log in and -- it's gone. Also gone is my dcrtools menu that I put all my favorite apps in and then add it to the kicker panel. Anybody got any idea what could have done this? -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. The last batch of patches I installed did the same thing to me. Things I had added to the menu tree totally disappeared. Even packages that I had installed from RPMs (Vmware, Unison, etc) just totally fell out of the menu and I had to re-add them This kind of stuff just drives me crazy. Why can't user created entries be kept separately and merged at menu creation time. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It is very disappointing and I can tell you it cost me over an hour and half of lost time and productivity yesterday trying to repair the damage done. I guess there is no testing done anymore before this stuff is released, but the problem is becoming serious from the standpoint of the amount of lost time and productivity it is causing. Have you been able to identify what package blew away the menu entries yet? I did find that all of my custom menu entries and mysteriously been dumped into the heretofore empty 'Applications' submenu. Now what bit of coding would have removed all menu customizations and moved them to the Applications submenu? Anybody?? -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
