I can't find your answer, got muddled up with my changing e-mail addresses I think. Svetoslav Milenov (Sunny) answered on the old mail address. But since his answer, some other problems occurred and I put them both in a new thread (thought the old one didn't work).

Are you really really sure you have the DVD-RW in the reader and a new blank media in the writer? :)
I cleaned the DVD-RW with "Tools - Format DVD+-RW". It worked. The first time I burned this DVD-RW it worked, but I had SuSE 9.3 then.
Also, are you sure that your reader can read DVD-RW? I have some devices (old) which can not read DVD+ or - RW, while they are OK with DVD+/-R. Just have problems with rewritables. To check this, try to copy some files from that drive/disk to your HDD.
It copied OK to the HDD. If you check the debug output, the TEAC DV-W50D 1.05 claims it can write DVD-RW and DVD+RW. It also did it before. It seems not to be a problem with the drive. With SuSE 9.3 it worked.
If the above fails, than you should use same device (the writer) for reading and writing.
Will have to try that.
Or, you can create an .iso image from the already burned DVD-RW and then use k3b to burn the image to a new media.
It delivers the same error when it started writing the ISO.

Hi Bruce, Pardon. Answering your questions;
Can you mount the dvd and read from it? Are you trying to copy from the same drive that created it? (just thinking 'read error' here)
Yes, I can mount it, copy it to HDD and even wipe/format the DVD-R with K3b. It was originally created with the drive but on SuSE 9.3 though.

Thanks for the answers... I don't use k3b enough to help but since you can copy it to the HD, I'm wondering if DD could be used to write it back out. Anyone have an answer to that?

There should be no problem with dd. I never had any. dd if=/dev/dvdreader of=myimage.iso The use k3b to burn the iso file to a disk - Tools menu. Cheers -- Svetoslav Milenov (Sunny)

To the CD/DVD? No. You could use cdrecord, for example, which is one of the programs used by gui frontends like k3b. Or growisofs. Have a look at /usr/share/doc/howto/en/txt/CD-Writing-HOWTO.gz for the method using cdrecord. - -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.0 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Made with pgp4pine 1.76 iD8DBQFDpxjhtTMYHG2NR9URAiZ0AJ9h4hIn3pSzaXitW2qjDeVbPqq5AQCgiDCQ jT50sLNcCwX17xdhlrsXAfE= =bwjy -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
