[opensuse] GUI Login Cycles but doesn't log in
I'm revisiting this problem. OpenSuse 11.2 or 11.3 Nvidia 6200 Samba Server - xfce interface Initially all is well. I enter all the Samba Passwords, then restore from an earlier drive, /etc/passwd /etc/group /etc/samba/smb.conf and /srv /srv has all the data files and directories. No Home Directories. After that I cannot log in to a GUI, only console is available. The GUI login tries, but just cycles back to login. Not critical because it's a Samba "File" Server, but I would still like to know how to fix it...? P/S I tried using zypper to add the nvidia repository and driver. That went well - no errors, but after that it doesn't even try to bring up a GUI login, it goes straight to the console. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Which Samba "passwords" are you talking about?
then restore from an earlier drive, /etc/passwd /etc/group /etc/samba/smb.conf and /srv
What about /etc/samba/secrets.tdb and /etc/samba/passdb.tdb ?
/srv has all the data files and directories. No Home Directories. After that I cannot log in to a GUI, only console is available. The GUI login tries, but just cycles back to login.
Are you using winbind aka YaST Windows Domain Membership module? More details and coffee please! Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany
