[opensuse] Amavis doesn't clean house
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, My amavis-new leaves a lot of directories under "/var/spool/amavis/tmp/". I have there 172 directories, using around 4 megabytes. The first one is dated Oct 7 2005, and the last five are from today. Each directory is of the form amavis-20080522T130059-00340 (dir) |-- email.txt (file) `-- parts (dir) (empty) Why is not this garbage removed automatically when amavis finishes scanning them? They are not all of them spam, some are from this list. Some are even emails sent from me to myself! Is it a bug, or could be a misconfiguration on my part? - -- Cheers, Carlos E. My setup only has 4 such directories, the oldest was two days ago which coincides with my last power-failure induced reboot (FWIW). Doing an rcamavis restart cleared all but two that were the oldest. Those two have a create time about the time of the power failure. So maybe these abandoned ones happened at similar times for your system. Do an rcamavis restart and see how many disappear. -- ----------JSA--------- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Carlos: More on this at this link. (amavis FAQ) http://www.ijs.si/software/amavisd/#faq The ones from today should not be touched. They are the work dirs of the current child processes and are re-used. The FAQ explains the reason why these are left laying about and how you can manually delete ancient ones. -- ----------JSA--------- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Thanks! That's a very interesting link.
