I never ran 2.6.8.1, but 2.6.8.1-mm was puzzling, I could get some to work with pci=routeirq and -mm3/-mm4 would boot fully at times with acpi=off, other times, they wouldn't boot on 32-bit, but were fine on x86_64 without needing any additional boot parameters. I'm now up and running on 2.6.9-rc1, it just needed a small patch to compile. http://www.ussg.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/0408.3/0054.html Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce .... What you might be thinking of is the CD burning issues some are experiencing. The kernel, intentionally, is set up to only allow users with 'root' access to burn. I imagine soon there will be a 'patch' that will allow exceptions to this. If someone knows more, or I misspoke, please correct. I know there have been several threads on this and other lists about this. -- Cheers, Trey Enzymes are things invented by biologists that explain things which otherwise require harder thinking. -- Jerome Lettvin Linux linux 2.6.8-4cvs20040824104540-default #1 Tue Aug 24 10:45:40 UTC 2004 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux 9:24am up 15:15, 2 users, load average: 0.25, 0.27, 0.27

Do you mean http://kerneltrap.org/node/view/3659? According to kerneltrap, there is a 2.6.9-rc1 released: http://kerneltrap.org/node/view/3694, but that's only a Release Candidate... Cheers, Leen
