[SuSE Linux] copying text from terminal output
Is there a way to copy text from a terminal screen into a file? I've got what appears to be a corrupted SuSE 5.3 boot disk, and I want to capture the text that displays when I try to mount it so that I can send to SuSE support. I've tried redirecting the output in various ways (note, these may not be entirely correct, as I'm pretty new to Linux): mount /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy > err mount /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy 2> err mount /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy >& err

Stuart, First type 'script' at the command prompt, this will fire up script, which allows normal shell interaction while logging all events to a file (default is typescript). Once you are done type 'exit' and then all output will be in the 'typescript' file, along with all commands and typo's issued by you. John Griffin jpg@cv.hp.com

I usually just start gpm (general purpose mouse). Then highlight the desired text on screen while holding the left mouse button. Then <alt-F2> to another tty and "touch filename"; then "edit filename" with your favorite editor.
