in setting up an AGP XPERT@WORK
I fixed it, now its working great!
Just a quick question here, what are the advantages to using a 'AGP' video card versus a standard 'PCI' card ?
Nothing much right now as Most Venders have AGP that are not upto intel's standards it set for its AGP port. A few Venders do have AGP video boards that are just comming out that are up to this standard. ATI is one of thoes who have intel's standard being used on thier boards. I can not speak for other video card. (ok I read ATI web site <g> oh : <A HREF="http://www.atitech.com"><A HREF="http://www.atitech.com</A">http://www.atitech.com</A</A>>) btw intel is gona release AGP X4 soon, blah blah, the current is AGP X2, but some venders just shoved thier PCI board onto an AGP card...so read before ya buy, and make sure (the SuSE X team wrote an X server that will work with it) <arnt they great!>
I am thinking a buying a Matrox card and it comes in both flavors and this motherboard can handle either.
I dunno, umm ok I do. I had a Stingray/Hecules 128/3dfx rush board It used SuSE's ATD3 X server, it worked very well, until I wanted to play good 3dfx games over linux. like Quake. I had the oporunity to buy a new motherboard with a bigger cache and it boasted a AGP port (FIC 2012) So I decided : Voodoo2 is comming out very soon, and so i went with the mobo and bought an Expert@Work AGP to fit the agp port, after some downloading of the SuSE (updated from the 5.1 disks) Mach64 X server, and some configuation, I got it working almost flawlessly, except for one error at a X logoff, np I gona get that fixed. My next thing to do is get that Voodoo2 card and link it to my AGP Xpert@Work card, so I can play thoes 3dfx games and Open GL/Glide games (quakeI,II)on my linux box :) Hey anyone want to buy my old video card? <g> -- Steven Udell Wayfarers hettar@teleport.com Truth Love sudell@teleport.com & Courage <A HREF="http://www.teleport.com/~hettar"><A HREF="http://www.teleport.com/~hettar</A">http://www.teleport.com/~hettar</A</A>> -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
