[opensuse] Browser too old for new openSUSE site.
I know that openSUSE 12.3 is not supported, but I tried to open the following link in Firefox 34.0.5 on that platform and it said: Your browser is not compatible with Google Maps v3. https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Map -- Roger Oberholtzer -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Curious, it works with Seamonkey 2.33.1, but not Firefox 40.0.3. Chromium 44.0.2403.89 also fails. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Well I get the same on 13.1 with Firefox 40. Still, that page seems old and nothing to do with the new openSUSE site, which is mainly just the landing page and one or two other offshoots. gumb -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Same here. I guess Google has changed its standard API or whatever.

Of course it has to do with openSUSE. It is on the domain. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. No I'm referring to the OP's subject line which suggests this is the 'new openSUSE site'. Perhaps he's followed through from the new landing page but this page itself is very much the old site. gumb -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

The reason this is happening is because the Google Maps API code is not being loaded by your browser. The openSUSE page is using HTTPS but the JavaScript for the API is being fetched over a unencrypted HTTP connection. Some browsers allow mixed content, others reject the ability to load the content on an HTTPS page from an unencrypted HTTP connection. Usually static content such as images and embedded audio/video will load since they do not have the ability to influence other content of the page. JavaScript on the other hand can alter page contents, so it is usually blocked by browsers which have strict rules about mixed content. I'm emailing the webmaster about this problem. I did access this page (in original post) from the new web site. It sent me to the link I provided. On Thu, Sep 17, 2015 at 5:29 PM, Brandon Vincent <Brandon.Vincent@asu.edu> wrote:

Interesting it loaded in FF 3.6.23, Seamonkey 2.35, Opera 12.16. I got the error message in all three but soon it loaded but this is on broadband at the club house.
