Re: [SLE] [+/-OT] Does gmail pop3 work for you?
The settings are readily available.
Google 'gmail pop smtp settings'.
I believe a question of this nature would be better asked on gmail or your favorite email client website.

If thats the case check their site for the pop3 and smtp addresses. It could be that they changed. MyRealBox does the same periodically to frustrate spammers.
No, nothing of the sort. The server is there and it answers and allows login et all: it just says there is no new email, when there are hundreds. - -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson

I repeat: there is nothing wrong, repeat, nothing wrong with the configuration. This is known and proven. It is just that gmail is broken on THEIR side and says there is no new mail. Or they do it on purpose.

I know, I know, it work for most people. It worked for me flawlesly for some time, then suddenly it stopped working. I didn't change anything, I have proof, and there are more people with the exact same symptoms. You can check the thread for the exact details. It's a problem at gmail side, some thing they did or didn't. Some body said they don't like non-usa IPs. It can be my provder uses a proxy. Who knows. So, please, let us stop this topic here unless there is some real new development. - -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.0 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Made with pgp4pine 1.76 iD8DBQFDtnUHtTMYHG2NR9URAmSSAJ9tPQiJXwzu20iFurZTREJMdhqTvQCfXr73 xZiLoSeQWqptXANu60P4X4w= =hLLs -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

If it's any comfort, I get a post every once in a while that fetchmail delivers to me but remains in the gmail inbox and the only way to clear it is to delete it. ???? -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org HOG # US1244711 Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2

Is it spam that gets stuck? I had a similar problem with Yahoo mail last year, where some spam would get stuck and fetchmail would abort the download and try again later. I would often get several messages repeating, because of that spam. It never happened with legit email.

no, legitimate mail. I have a few spams that pass google's filter also, but since I use fetchmail, I can access gmail via browser and report the missed spams (and I do). -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org HOG # US1244711 Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2
