Most interesting........
According to the login screens I am running Kernel 2.0.35.
This is out of the box (or jewelcase). I have never undertaken a kernel recompile before......Actually, it seems kinda scary :-)
SuSE kernels come with a lot of patches put in, so always get the source, not just the patch files. 2.0.35 comes from SuSE (5.2 or 5.3) with vfat compiled in. So you don't need to recompile to get long names mounting windows partitions. The latest "released" kerenl is 2.0.36. Kernels that are 2.1.xxxx are development kernels, your milage may very. A new "released" kerenel is suupose to be coming out, 2.2.xxx, but isn't here yet. I have heard jumping to a 2.1.xxx kerenel requires a lot of other tools, so follow the readme carefully (I know SuSE 6.0 all ready has all it need to handle a 2.1, 2.2 kerenl). - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
