Ok, I think we are getting something here:
I did: "dhcpcd -k" and it saids: "no dhcp is running"
and after that I did de "dhcpcd" and didnt give me any
message but when I went to the GUI and I got to
netscape it was still not running.
Does this tell you something?, why was the service not
running if I did set it up on yast?, what should I try
now?
Thnx....

how do I run the dhcp from a console?
First kill dhcpcd with the following command.
dhcpcd -k
Then, restart dhcpcd.
dhcpcd

Hi; I understand here that you _do_ have a functional DHCP Server? If that is the case then this client is not getting the response or is not broadcasting discover? Try to look in the logs and see what is happening........dhcpd -d and look in the /var/log/messages for the activity ie....discover....offer...ack Regards, Jon On Fri, 27 Apr 2001, Ricardo Rodriguez wrote:

Yes, you are right. That's whats happening. I will try to take a look to those files and try to figure it out and if I can't think of anything Ill be back. Just another question. Which file will keep the log for the dhcpcd -d? Do I just need to set it once and it will get everything by itself everytime I switch the computer on or off?, or I need to set it every time? Thnx. --- marsaro@interearth.com wrote:

It should be enough to set it up once. You can tell yast to start it up automatically when you boot, as soon as you have it working. Regards Ole
