Well, if the update worked: nothing :) Rebuilding the RPM database should only be done before an update. IŽve just received an answer from one of our YaST developers about rebuilding the RPM database before an update: <SNIP> This usually helps, since the free list is empty after rebuilding the database, and it's quite hard to mess up an emty list. Besides this, after an update, or two, almost half of your database might be free. So you'll gain a little bit disk space, if you rebuild it. </SNIP> Bye, LenZ -- ------------------------------------------------------------------ Lenz Grimmer SuSE GmbH mailto:grimmer@suse.de Schanzaeckerstr. 10 http://www.suse.de/~grimmer 90443 Nuernberg, Germany -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/ -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

YaST creates a backup copy of the old RPM database during the update. Just copy it back to its place and reboot the old system or start the rescue system and mount your old system. Run rpm --rebuilddb afterwards and try the update once more. Good luck! Lenz, I rebuilt the "converted" RPM database. Then I did an update of all packages. It ran to completion; no problems! Thanks for all your help! Jim Sabatke Lenz Grimmer wrote:
