I am used to using KBiff in KDE1. Now that I am migrating to KDE2, I am looking for a comparable applet that will park in the KDE2.1 system tray. Does anyone know of any (conversely, can suitable instruction be given to arrive placing the KBiff in the KDE2.1 system tray; when I attempt to do so, it simply minimizes on the desktop. Also, I am unable to print messages (in KMail) or websites (in Konqueror) without getting an unusually wide-spaced font. Any suggestions? -Thomas Long tlong@billsoft.com

KBiff has been ported to KDE-2 and works as you would expect, except there's no sound notification supported yet. (You can have a beep when email comes in, but no barking, doorbells or whatever else you like.) I'm using it here and it works fine. It came straight from the author's site, the URL of which I can't remember. However, it was definitely announced on Freshmeat, so do a search there.
