Hello all: I have installed lyx (guru's version, newest) onto SUSE 10.0 and SUSE 10.1. The install process ran smoothly, dependency problems were not reported. When I start lyx I get this type of error messages: "The document uses a missing TeX class "article". LyX will not be able to produce output." or: "The document uses a missing TeX class "book". LyX will not be able to produce output." In Document/Settings/Document Class window there are classes listed and all of them marked as unavailable. Why is this and how could I fix it? I am new to lyx. I googled but could not find any usable information. Help or links are welcome! If i'm not mistaken, try this: a) Go to Yast software manager. b) Search for anything with "tex" in the name. c) Install all of that (or almost all - read the descriptions). There's a lot in there which you probably won't need, e.g. the packages for Asian-language support. d) In Lyx you need click EDIT --> RECONFIGURE so it will re-scan for all of the apps/etc it uses. i think that'll do it. i have been in the habit, for some years, of just selecting almost all of the tex-related packages so that lyx will work for me. So far it's worked for me. -- ----- stephan@s11n.net http://s11n.net "...pleasure is a grace and is not obedient to the commands of the will." -- Alan W. Watts
