[opensuse] printer import (in 15.2 from 15.1)
Hello :-) I have an old 15.1 install on this computer and a new 15.2 one. is there a way to import the printer setup from the old 15.1 install? (of course, Windows 10 find the two printers from scratch, but 15.2 don't - brother and lexmark) by the way I know how to do it by hand, but it's a one hour work... thanks jdd -- http://dodin.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Good question. Copy /etc/cups/, perhaps /etc/cupshelpers/ maybe that is enough, I see ppd files inside. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.1 x86_64 at Telcontar)

right. I will save this for a leter occasion. right now, as I have the old download folder I reinstalled the drivers (Lexmark is easy, it's only the first Apple color laser - all these pro printers share the same drivers or nearly) thanks jdd -- http://dodin.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

If there are drivers, my idea would not work, it only copies the configuration. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.1 x86_64 at Telcontar)

Funny, only just yesterday I had the reverse. Our kyocera lasers work off a central cups instance, but the broadcasts are not being seen by leap 15.[12]. IIRC 15.0 was okay. With 15.1 and 15.2 I have to specify the name of the printserver. To get it to work on my son's Win10, manual config including drivers.

Isn't it only a question of picking the right ppd ? -- Per Jessen, Zürich (24.2°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - virtual servers, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

for the lexmark, that have no scanner and use an apple laser color driver, probably, yes, but the lexmark ppd is refused. For the brother all in one, no, but the Brother script worked flawlessly. I still don't know exactly what is installed by the Brother app jdd -- http://dodin.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Did you download the rpm packages, or the install tool? Also, which printer is it? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
