installing latest version of xfree86 over 7.2?
I want to install the latest version of XFree86 4.10 over SuSE 7.2. I have the tar files from the XFree86 people and I have done a make World. I want to install the latest version so I can experiment with some hacks later. How should I proceed? What are the pitfalls? Does the installation procedure from XFree86 place files in the same location as SuSE? How do I backup my present system so I can back out of the changes I am contemplating? Thank You. You didn't need to do that. SuSE made RPMs in the 'supplementary' directory on ftp.suse.com. There are instructions there, too. -- James Oakley Engineering - SolutionInc Ltd. joakley@solutioninc.com http://www.solutioninc.com
