Hi, Suse 9.3 here. I tried to add packman's repo (get the server data from susewiki.org) to YaST. After the installation source is added, and I go to Install/Remove software, it opens the window, opens the box for "Retrieving.." and after that it closes both. This is the error I get when I start yast2 from xterm: Command: /sbin/yast2 sw_single & Segmentation fault at /usr/share/YaST2/clients/sw_single.ycp:161 /sbin/yast2: line 207: 24738 Segmentation fault $ybindir/y2base $module "$@" qt -geometry "$Y2_GEOMETRY" $Y2QT_ARGS If I disable the packmans source, Yast starts to work again. I have always used on my other machines apt-get, and when on a new install I decided to use YaST - booom :) Anyone has an idea what may get wrong? Cheers -- Svetoslav Milenov (Sunny)

Could you post the exact info you used when you added the packman site? I have it added and have no problems so it may be the way you added it. -- Ken Schneider UNIX since 1989, linux since 1994, SuSE since 1998 "The day Microsoft makes something that doesn't suck is probably the day they start making vacuum cleaners." -Ernst Jan Plugge

Hi Ken, I just added an FTP source: server: packman.iu-bremen.de directory: /suse/9.3/ I tried both with HTTP and FTP, and both with trailing slash and without it, no change at all. Also, the strange thing I see is, that in the list of the sources (in the URL column), I see packman's repo written as: ftp://server: packman.iu-bremen.de//suse/9.3 (note the "//" after the server name). I checked, my suplementary KDE repo (just for comparission, as it is ftp remo as well) is with only one slash. It is entered in exactly the same - a servername w/o trailing slash, and directory _with_leading slash, but in the list it appears with single slash, not double between the server and the directory, as the packman's one. Btw, where does YaST save the sources info and url's? I couldn't find it, so I can not check exactly how it has stored this info. Cheers Sunny -- Svetoslav Milenov (Sunny)

Hi Ken, I just added an FTP source: server: packman.iu-bremen.de directory: /suse/9.3/
Remove the beginning and trailing slash. They are not needed and may be the cause of your problem.

That's because of the extra slashes. -- Ken Schneider UNIX since 1989, linux since 1994, SuSE since 1998 "The day Microsoft makes something that doesn't suck is probably the day they start making vacuum cleaners." -Ernst Jan Plugge

Try clicking Edit, then click on the Refresh button. I just tried this and I'm now d/loading from Packman.

Yes, that happened to me last night. I added packman as a source and YaST kept closing.
At the time I was playing with mondo in 9.3, so assumed it had something to do with this. I'm glad I saw your post. If I disable packman's source, YaST then works ok.
