RE: [SLE] Gnome2 update and a few problems
Hey all,
I just updated to the gnome2 packages form ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/supplimentary/GNOME2/update_for_8.0
and after installing the RPMs from base and applications I get
[snip] It's very important to upgrade your base GNOME 1.x system from the updates & supplementary directories first. If you you don't intend to used GNOME 2, be careful that you don't update gnome-vfs from the supplemental directory because you will lose all the GNOME 1.x mime types. You mime types will be magically restored once you upgrade to GNOME 2. Depending on which GNOME you wish to use as default, you may need to tweak a few environment variables. Here's mine: GNOMEDIR=/opt/gnome GNOME_PATH=/opt/gnome:/opt/gnome2:/usr Also, the following should exist in your /etc/ld.so.conf: /opt/gnome/lib /opt/gnome2/lib Plus, /opt/gnome/bin:/opt/gnome2/bin should be in your PATH. There's probably more to it, but that's all I can think of off hand. Good luck to all, -jrh
and is there a SuSE update for Galeon and Mozilla 1.x ?
ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/linux/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/i386/supplementary/GNOME/upda te_for_8.0/applications/galeon-1.2.5-19.rpm ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/linux/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/i386/supplementary/GNOME/upda te_for_8.0/base/mozilla-1.0-10.rpm My suggestion is upgrade to apt4rpm. It just freakin' works, man. Totally far out.
I finally got all the Gnome packaged downloaded fro supplimentary/GNOME/update_for_8.0/base and installed them, ran SuSEconfig then installed the GNOME2 packages and ran SuSEconfig and still with the error /opt/gnome2/bin/gconftool-2: relocation error: /opt/gnome2/lib/libgconf-2.so.4: undefined symbol: ORBit_small_flags I just think I have quite bad luck :/ RKDavies On Fri, 2002-06-28 at 07:59, John Ross Hunt wrote:
