hi, I am trying to use the Suse Linux 9.1 live cd and the screen goes blank after the kernel expands any ideas what boot options i can pass to the kernel so that the screen does not go blank during installation. Thanks Ash __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Take Yahoo! Mail with you! Get it on your mobile phone. http://mobile.yahoo.com/maildemo

Try to hand the kernel the option vga=normal, or you could actually try to specify it outright. On one of my machines that has an 18" Philips LCD monitor I get a blank screen upon booting in the default settings and had to put vga=0x318 into the boot loader setup to see anything before it switches X on. Good luck, Alex.
Dear Alex
I tried putting the option vga=normal it starts
checking for hardware and then i get a kernel panic
attempted to kill idle task and the system hangs ,is
there any other option that I have to add
thanks
Ash

try vga=792. That's what I had to do with my samsung LCD to see anything. FX

I never could get the 9.1 live cd to work, even though I tried it on 3 different computers. No problem with either 9.0 or 9.2 though. Perhaps you should try one of them. Incidentally, even though the 9.1 live cd didn't work, the full distro installed fine on the three computers I tried it on.
