[SuSE Linux] Initializing my cd-rom
Hi In order to use my CD-ROM under Linux I had to add hdc=cdrom in lilo.conf.After adding this line Linux recognized my CD-ROM. The problem is that it takes too much time for Linux to initialize my CD-ROM,something like 10 seconds. The following two lines were extracted from /var/log/messages : hdc: no response (status = 0x80), resetting drive <---- hdc: GCD-R540, ATAPI CDROM drive You see the first line,it takes the kernel 10 seconds to write this line before proceeding. Why ? how can I fix it ? BTW I am using kernel SuSE 6.1 kernel version 2.2.5 Thank you ---------------------------------------------------------------- "You do not have to be smart in order to think, but in order to be smart you have to think" Efi Merdler -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archive at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
