Some modems have caller ID (CID) capability. Here is a test with minicom of my US Robotic: OK AT#CID=1 OK RING DATE = 0218 TIME = 2022 NMBR = 123456789 RING Now, knowing that it works, I want to make use of it; I would like, first, to monitor and log incoming calls, somehow, and possibly transparently with my dial out calls. But then, I would also like to fire up some program to receive faxes when the incoming number is a precise number. Is that possible? Has it been done previously? -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson

I believe this can be done with mgetty - vgetty. You will find the package in the SuSE distrib. -- Regards, Graham Smith ---------------------------------------------------------
