Edit the file unix.js under /opt/MozillaFirebird/defaults/pref
search for "print.printer_list" and make it like:
pref("print.printer_list", "epson925 sp925 kprinter xpp"); // list of printers, separated by spaces

Patrick, when i did on Konsole: [gar@box1 gar]S lpstat -a <return> it returned: color accepting requests since Jan 01 00:00 high accepting requests since Jan 01 00:00 lp accepting requests since Jan 01 00:00 printer1 accepting requests since Jan 01 00:00 so after making a copy of the file unix.js, I modified as root using vi the above referenced line to read: "pref("print.printer_list", "color high lp printer1 kprinter xpp"); // list of printers, separated by spaces" (without the quotes) I then went into Mozilla and under file ---> print, i selected lp, pressed print, and it worked !!! Thanks for all the help. And thanks for not leaving this as an exercise to be completed by the reader. So you have 4 print queues defined, color, high, lp and printer1. I suppose with different parameters, high would be ?? photo or almost, etc.
so after making a copy of the file unix.js, I modified as root using vi the above referenced line to read:
"pref("print.printer_list", "color high lp printer1 kprinter xpp"); // list of printers, separated by spaces" (without the quotes)

But you DID complete the exercise and now you have a better idea. The next step is to find out the differences between the queues you have set. In an xterm console again: Gar...:~> lpoptions -d color and you will find the settings for the print queue 'color'. ie: pat@wahoo:~> lpoptions -d epson925 job-sheets=none,none cpi=12 lpi=10 page-bottom=36 page-left=10 page-right=1 page-top=1 position=top-left MediaType=Inkjet then open kprinter and look at the different printers in the scroll down box. Completion of this exercise left to the reader. -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org

Pardon me for butting in, and I must admit that I have NOT been reading this thread too closely but the Subject of this thread got the better of me and if my comment is way off the mark then please forgive. I have a Lexmark laser printer which Suse (9) recognised and during the install process I was able to print out the test (graphics) page without any problems. However, when I tried to print from Thunderbird or from Phoenix I got nowhere very fast - nothing got printed at all. The solution lay in unchecking the Use Local Filter in the printer setup (got to Yast and then the printer setup). Once unselected TB and Phoenix printed without trouble. Cheers. -- Wagner's music is really not as bad as it sounds.
