[opensuse] Removing file-associations
Hi, Recently I added a file-association (right-clicking a file and then click "open with", then "other", then select to application and select "use always"). Now all text-files are opened with that application. I have to richt-click and select e.g. KWrite to open that file. How can I "globally" remove that association ? I tried in system-configuration/file-associations. In the "Application" list there are tens, maybe over hundred, of entries, and I don't want to scan them individually to remove that application from the list. I already did from a number of them, but then I gave up. So any advice ? Thanks. Which Windowmanager are you using?
Thanks.

right clic on the file, then "properties" (last entry in the context menu) - kde

Thanks, Used "options for file-type" there. That did it. I configured to open the file with the right application. But when I click on the file, I get a message there is no application installed. When I right click on the file and select to open with the configured application, it works so the application *is* installed ??? Hi, I messed-up my file-association beyond repair I think. Is there a way to get the standard config back ? Is this stored in some file so I can remove it ? Maybe make another user and copy over that file to have a default setting ? Not practical I'm affraid. Plain text files are not recognised anymore, so you expect me to right-click every possible type of text file and say 'open with kwrite' ? Nobody knows where those settings are kept ? Koenraad. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

When you define your local file/mime associations, these are stored in .local/share/applications/ So maybe when you remove all what is there you go back to the system default. -- fr.gr. member openSUSE Freek de Kruijf -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
